Land off Walkhurst Road kindly bequeathed by Pat Thoburn provides allotments for the parish. Benenden Allotment Association was formed in November 2024 and manages the allotment site. Plot-holders started work on site in the winter of 2023, and substantial progress continues.
Through grants, donations and support from volunteers, the Parish Council, UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Cllr Holden (KCC Combined Members Grant), Kent Community Foundation, and Benenden Hospital access to the site was built and the necessary groundwork carried out which have enabled us to start work on the site.
Funding is in place to install mains water and standpipes, and to make repairs to fencing. Further funding is required to create a parking area as winter approaches.
The land consists of 22 plots totalling 2,362m2 starting from 28m2 up to 125m2 (the size of a tennis court).
If you are interested in in renting a plot, or would like to help us improve the site please contact the Allotment Association Secretary via allotments@benendenparishcouncil.org. Once your interest is registered, and a plot allocated you will be asked to join the Allotment Association, and sign a formal tenancy agreement. The application form, tenancy agreement, and key Allotment policies may be seen on the Benenden Parish Council website
Allotments are for the use of residents of the Parish of Benenden and the plots will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
